Detection of Human Presence
in an Industrial Robotic Arm's Workspace

One or more infra-red sensors will be mounted on the waist of a robotic arm. During operation of the robotic arm the sensors will be used to detect presence of a human within the workspace of the arm and take appropriate action to avoid colliding with the human.

What’s in it for the intern?

Hands on experience in:

  • selecting the sensors, interface to a signal processor, and acquire the sensory data
  • delevoping algorithms to extract a heat-map signature of a human and estimate the location of the human

Expected outcome

  • Creation of algorithms for calibration of human IR map signatures, algorithms to correlate calibrated signatures to real-time sensory data.

About Systemantics
